76ers Heading In New Direction After Holiday Trade

It's now apparent that the Philadelphia 76ers have a new direction. In trading all-star PG Jrue Holiday, the Sixers front office(Sam Hinkie,) have made it clear that they are rebuilding from the ground up. New Sixers GM and President Sam Hinkie envisions a young, athletic and versatile roster that can learn and grow together. In return from the Holiday trade, the Sixers obtained the rights to Kentucky PF/C Nerlens Noel and a 2014 1st round pick. Noel was projected as the consensus #1 overall pick entering the 2013 NBA draft, but a ACL injury hurt his draft stock. With the 11th pick the Sixers drafted Syracuse PG Michael Carter-Williams who was regarded as the 2nd best PG entering the draft. The Sixers front office feel like MCW can be the PG of the future.

With the potential of having two top lottery picks in the 2014 NBA draft, the Sixers can rebuild with top young talent. Sixers fans didn't see the Jrue Holiday trade coming, but the gutsy decision shows the team finally has a clear direction. Time will tell if this move was the correct one, but I respect the decision. I'm just saying!!!
