The Sixers After The Break

Head Coach Doug Collins has molded a group of "above average" players into a legitimate playoff team. Collins has his team playing hard on both ends of the court while playing team basketball. Defense is the strength of the team as they have managed to out work opponents while creating turnovers. The turnovers spark the offensive game as the players are able to consistently finish in transition. The team also has the luxury of having players like Evan Turner, Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young come off their bench. The aforementioned players arguably mean more to the team than the guys who start the games. The Sixers currently have a winning record of 20 - 14 and are first place in their division.

With the positivity out of the way, I would like to share some negative issues with the team. First, the Sixers went into the all-star break on a five game losing streak. The losing streak left fans scratching their heads and questioning the great start to the season. The team would tell you that they are struggling without the services of starting center Spencer Hawes and starting power forward Elton Brand. Hawes(back injury) has missed the last 15 games and is still not scheduled to be back for two weeks. Brand has been out nursing a hand injury but is expected back tonight when the team plays the Detroit Pistons.

The problem I see with the team is none of the players have evolved into a Superstar. Andre Iguodala made his first all-star game this year but no one would consider him a "Superstar." Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young are good pieces and strive in their roles but aren't true "go to guys." I believe that Jrue Holiday or Evan Turner have the ability to take their games to the next level. Holiday who is in his third season has progressed each year and has shown the ability to take over games. Turner, has the pedigree of the 2nd pick in last years draft, but has yet to gain the confidence of the coaches to be a starter. Turner possesses the ability to be the best player on the team, but must display consistency and confidence to be a starter. It is also important for coach Collins to identify who his best player is and allow him to have control when the game is on the line.

The all-star break is over and teams are ready to make a push for a spot in the playoffs. The Sixers need to continue to play inspired basketball and determine who will become the true "go to guy." Overall the team has done some good things but must make the next step in their pursuit of a championship. The Philly fans will be watching closely and won't hesitate to boo poor play or lack of effort.

The Art of Storytelling: Eminem

Soo on this edition of "The Art of Storytelling" we chose to decode the message in the music given by famous rap artist Eminem. Its no secret that Eminem has been somewhat of a controversial figure all throughout his career. It would appear that early is his career he was at war with white America and the effect he was having on their children, possibly because he spoke on experiences of heavy drug use and flirted with talks of suicide. 

The song Stan was chosen because it gave some insight on how he felt, he was being portrayed in the limelight. The songs gets pretty graphic, as an eager fan reaches out to Eminem through mail. This fan is obviously obsessive as he expresses his love and support for his favorite artist.  With no timely response, This fan named Stan now starts to show his negative emotions. Sending letters filled with frustration and anger. The song concludes with Stan becoming so enraged at disappointment with Eminem, that he trunks his pregnant girlfriend and drives the car off of a bridge killing everyone including himself.

Soo where's the message you may ask...Did in fact Eminem's raunchy graphic lyrics lead this man to such an evil act? Should Eminem be held accountable for speaking on things he has done or even fabricating some stories? Well it sounded to me that Eminem would beg to differ. My understanding from the story was that, if any individual who takes what an entertainer says literally and actually goes out to mimic any criminal sadistic act that they hear, then maybe...just maybe this person was mentally unstable to begin with. 

On Jay-z's Renegade, he again briefly visits the issue, this time he indirectly says that if good parenting is taken place at home then no one should be able to influence your child.

Problems With The Parking Authority??

Soo here in this particular post we felt the need to entertain all the drama that comes along with parking your vehicle out here on these cold streets(lol). You better be careful where u choose to leave it, because the Philadelphia Parking Authority is on a vicious, relentless pursuit to obtain any extra funds you have lingering in your account. Now granted should you be foolish enough to park your car anywhere illegally, maybe you deserve to be fined and flooded with all kind threatening mail. Maybe your a good citizen who chooses to read all the signs and try to follow the given directions. Maybe you were downtown happily shopping, just so happens to lose track of time. You haul ass desperately down the street to your vehicle only to notice a stubby individual dressed in all blue punching some information into what looks like a large calculator. You plead, you give a sincere testimony on your whereabouts and how the clock just expired. Looking at you, showing no emotion this heartless person still writes a ticket. Now filled with rage, you suddenly become confrontational...Already with a few other tickets in your glove compartment, you figure you will take your chances in court. Hoping they show mercy on your situation

Now for those of you who have been lucky enough to avoid a trip down to 9th and Filbert, the environment is hostile to say the least. Once you enter the building your first thought is "damn how long is this gone take??"(hopefully you were smart enough to park in the parking lot). Your thoughts will be interrupted by all sorts of whining,complaining and bickering coming from the alleged violators waiting to fight the system. Vulgar obscenities will probably come from those individuals who have just been booted or towed. Oh my, what an empty feeling you have when faced with either of the two...Yes I have experienced both lol.

 Sitting for an hour or more is never fun, especially when you are finally called, the person in charge in the back really doesn't care what you have to say. Should you have evidence with you(pictures, maybe even a witness lol) I've heard you can come out victorious. Otherwise you are simply there to jump on a payment plan and prolong the inevitable...SMH

In conclusion we recommend that everyone who likes to wander downtown and other places that require a fee to park, avoid the street and use a parking lot. For you cannot escape the rape...Im Just Saying

MARLEY - The Movie (Official Trailer)

The life of legendary reggae musician Bob Marley, is finally being portrayed in a documentary film. The documentary will tell the story of Bob Marley's life, from early struggles, to his meteoric rise to world wide fame. The film will also contain behind the scenes footage, live performances, interviews with those who knew him and more. Marley is known and recognized as the greatest reggae musician of all time, while also being a passionate humanitarian. Bob Marley's music delivered a powerful message as he preached love and human rights in his songs. From the small island of Jamaica, Marley was able to reach the world with his soulful voice and positive lyrics.  The film is directed by Academy Award winner Kevin McDonald, and is set to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and SXSW in March. Diddy Launching New Cable TV Network???

Sean "Diddy" Combs recently announced that he is the new owner of a television network. Puff continues to monopolize on the entertainment industry by launching his new "Revolt" network.  Diddy's "Revolt" cable network is geared around a revolutionary music theme. Combs made this statement during the announcement:

"The Revolt network will be a revolution in music on television, a place where artists and their viewers come together and engage with technology and social media."

 The Revolt network was picked up by cable provider Comcast, and will be available on their digital package in 2013. Comcast is making a strong effort to offer minority owned TV networks to their customers. Revolt was selected by Comcast to be "the first music network to truly leverage the power of social media, fueling the live music dialogue and influencing the music culture for the video-centric generation.” Basketball legend Magic Johnson also announced plans to launch his own television network(Aspire,) which will also be available on Comcast.

It's inspiring to see powerful African-American figures, attempt to make a imprint in all aspects of entertainment. Oprah Winfrey lead the way with the launch of her "OWN" network last year. Many expected "OWN" to take off but the network struggled its first year with viewership.  It is important to note that Oprah's lack of success, did not stop Diddy and Magic from joining the television network frenzy.

The newest issue of The Source magazine, displays three rising hip-hop artist. 2 Chains, Tyga and Mac Miller are featured on the cover of the February/March issue. The selected artist being on the cover, represents the up and coming talent from across the country. Nas, Common and Q-Tip Plan Trio Group: The Standard

Soo we were fortunate enough to catch wind of reports that top hip-hop artists Nas, Common and Q-Tip are planning to merge as a group titled The Standard. Reports back in 2007 read that Common and Q-Tip originated the idea, but no official full project has ever been released. Now the rumors surface again as Nas name now has been thrown in the mix. Nas did not hide the fact that he is planning to work with the two hip-hop legends, sooo this just could happen. These artists have all worked well with each other in the past. We remember when Q-Tip was apart of Nas's first solo album producing the single One Love. Q-Tip has done plenty of work with Common on his solo albums. Common also previously requested Nas on his single Ghetto Dreams for his latest album. Should this union happen hip-hop could get exciting again....What do you think?

In The Game Entertainment Presents...Code Bleu

Soo lets take a trip over the bridge to South Jersey to get a glimpse of a new up and coming rap group that appears to be comfortable driving in their own lane. Coming straight out of Willingboro, New Jersey Code Bleu has proven they are dedicated to the principals of loyalty, perseverance and success. Orginating in summer of 2008 the group consists of three young men who all share the same musical goals. They stand to entertain and create quality rap music that will appeal to the masses. Each member is unique in their own right, still coming together to give that urban appeal.

Eddie day aka "Logic" is the youngest in the group at 18. He best known for his lyrical display and his creativity behind the music. Phil Jackson aka "Khalid" is the oldest and can be viewed as the leader.  Calm and always in a laid back mood Khalid gives the group that mature feel. Jamal Moore aka "JJM" is quite the charismatic character, working behind the scenes wit the production of the videos. He consistently brings a high level of energy to the music, giving the fans a good feel for his personality.  All this talent is being groomed by the great Wilbert Hart(Orginal member of the Delfonics).

Hart still passionate about music created In The Game Entertainment, to keep his hands in the game. He has reached to these young men to ensure prosperity, passing on all the knowledge he has of the industry. Don't Gas Me Up...

Soo we were wondering if anybody has been paying attention to these increasingly high gas prices. Pain at the Pump is being felt all the across the nation. According NBCs Miguel Almaguer The average price of a gallon of gas is $3.56 a gallon, up 40 cents over last year and a record for this time of the year. Gas has become a major problem for the average citizen who chooses to drive because, now it has become a significant part of the budget. Ranging  anywhere from $250-$500 per month in expense pending on your vehicle. It has been talks for over a year now that its possible for the average price to reach $5 per gallon.

We feel the American people should be outraged to the point, that we all take a stand to protest and maybe even boycott all the gas stations. We proposed this to everyone who is able to participate: First park your car, then create a large sign that reads "Don't Gas Me Up" then you will stick this sign in your front windshield of your car. Allowing your car to have a voice, stating dont put anymore gas in me!!. This action will only show strength and unity sending a clear message to the oil industry, that we will not support these increases any longer.  With no usage of gas for about 14 consecutive days in America, this would then allow the oil industry to now feel the Pain at the Pump as we have.

Some blame the government and greedy lobbyist others say its the simple process of supply and demand. Either way it is a problem than many of us can relate to. As always, if we complain about a problem we like to give a solution. If you can join us in the "Don't Gas Me Up" movement. Park your car and get that sign in.... Im Just Saying!

Wale has released the new video for his hit single "Slight Work." Featured on the track is Detroit native and "Good Music" representer Big Sean. "Slight Work" can be found on Wale's "Ambition album, which is currently in stores. Wale has put in a lot of work over the past year and made the top 10 on MTV's "Hottest MCs In The Game" list. Who Are The Hottest MCs in THE GAME???

MTV has compiled a "top 10" list of artist, to determine who is/are the best rappers in the industry.   Many groups debate this same question everyday, as everyone has their personal favorites. From likes of Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and T.I., to new school artist like Meek Mill and 2 Chains, everyone feels like their guy needs to be number one. Most agree that the rap game is not as pure as it was in the past. The makings of a hot MC nowadays rely more on street buzz than actual lyrical talent. MTV has already revealed the names of the rappers who appear from 10 through 6 on their top list. 

The names below are in order of their position on the current list:

The biggest surprise on the list so far is Jay-Z coming in at #6. The panelist argued that although Jay-Z is a all time great, he didn't have as big a year as the artist who will be revealed in the "top 5." Philly's own Meek Mill appears on the list at #7. The panelist were unanimous with their selection of the rising Philly artist. All agreeing that Meek is one of the hottest, if not the hottest rapper in "the game" right now. Also stating that Meek is a corner stone to Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group(MMG) label. Assuming that Rick Ross's name will appear in the top 5, that would give his MMG label three artist in the top 10. Automatically making them the best team talent wise in the industry. MTV will reveal the top 5 names on their "Hottest MCs in the Game VII" special tonight at 10:30 pm on MTV2. So who will be in the top 5 and eventually crowned the hottest MC in the game right now??? Make sure to tune into the MTV2 special tonight and as always leave us your opinion.

Balling: J.R. Smith To The Knicks...



J.R. Smith Playing In China

Soo things are really about to heat up in the Big Apple. This hot NBA news should keep New York Knicks fans optimistic about there chances to make a deep playoff run. We just received news that Knicks will officially add free-agent shooting guard J.R. Smith to the roster on Friday. We spoke on Smith's whereabouts in our Stuck Abroad post, giving the details of his controversial contract situation in China. Well his just became eligible to come back to the NBA as of yesterday.
Reports have it that Smith will be present at the Garden on Friday night, but wont make his debut until Sunday against the Mavericks. The Knicks will be required to cut one player to make room on their roster. Already Renaldo Balkman named has surfaced, being that his playing time has decreased significantly. Balkman has one remaining year at $1.8 million and could have been an amnesty casualty if the Knicks were still going for 2012 cap space.

The funny thing about this addition is the timing. Had Smith become a free agent 2 weeks ago Jeremy Lin probably would have been cut, for financials reasons because his contract wasn't guaranteed. Seems like that scenario just wasn't meant to be. Jeremy Lin's now has positioned himself as a town favorite taking control of the team with the absence of Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudermare. Soo what happens now?

There are many subplots already bubbling here. First the public is eager to know, could and would Carmelo be able to come in and improve the team starring Lin-Credible? Now adding another aggressive scorer to the mix, can and will Lin be able to be as productive as he has been over the last five games?

What we do know is that Melo and Smith has pretty good history together as both were able to co-exist in Denver. They were teammates for a number of years developing an off the court relationship. We also know that Amare serves as no threat to the chemistry of to the team, proving in his first game back that he can fit right in.  Now we have the makings of a complete team with this year's signing of Tyson Chandler.
Should be exciting to watch to say the least, well will keep you posted play by post(lol).

Lin-Credible or All Hype???

Jeremy Lin has become a feel good story across the sports world. Everyone likes when the underdog overcomes the odds by accomplishing the unexpected. The unexpected??? After going undrafted, Lin went on to play in the NBA D-League. Lin was able to make two NBA rosters, spending time with the Rockets and Warriors. Lin was eventually released by both teams, because he didn't fit their style of play. After being signed by the Knicks Lin has been on fire, averaging 26.8 points as their starting point guard. Lin scored 136 points in his first five starts, the most by any player since the NBA and ABA merged in 1976.  Lin has given the Knicks the spark they needed after they were struggling with injuries to stars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. Not even Lin can believe the attention that he has received because of his unexpected play. Lin has been on newspapers all over the world and also made the cover of the recent issue of Sports Illustrated magazine.

New York is a large media market so anything happening sports wise will get a lot of attention.  Lin recently received praise from president Obama who is a avid basketball fan. Nike has also jumped on the Lin bandwagon, with their planned release of a Jeremy Lin "Linsanity" edition Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 sneaker. Everyone is not a fan of the Asian star, which is expected with the amount of hatred in the world. World Champion boxer Floyd Mayweather offered his "two cents" to the "Lin-Mania" craze. Mayweather made this comment on his twitter page...

From my perspective Lin is playing great basketball and he should not be slighted because of his race. Numbers don't lie and his production has been obvious while being the starting point guard for the Knicks. I feel like his popularity rose because he is playing in a large media market like New York. If Lin was playing in a smaller market like Charlotte or Sacramento I doubt that his popularity would have risen as fast. Is the acknowledgment Lin is receiving just do, or is he receiving credit because of his race and the market he currently plays in??? Throwback Jamz: Keyshia Cole...Heaven Sent

Soo lets slow it down a little bit...Close your eyes for a moment and try to visualize that place and that feeling when you first realized that you had someone special in your life. We came to Keyshia Cole to hear her testimony, for she and director Benny Boom painted a beautiful picture. The video displays the essence of paradise taking place on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Keyshia makes it clear that she wants her man to feel as if she is thee only one for him. The song speaks on deep emotions, and gives an insight on how love is unpredictable, expressing "you cant help who you love..."

The spiritual feeling that was created in the music just feels oh so right. Passionate and Soulful in her own right Keyshia was able to deliver a classic message. Maybe love has been calling you, but you refuse to answer...Soon we all grow tired from running.. Allow yourself to be relaxed, the song gives off positive vibes and commands that you listen to its entirety. 

The Art of Storytelling: Nasir Jones

Soo my conscious people love it when I talk like this...Yes, here in this article we chose to cover the dynamic style that Hip-Hop legend Nas possesses. In this segment we shall examine the true meaning behind his words and visualize the picture that he artistically creates in his music. We selected his most controversial album, which ironically has no title. The album was originally supposed to be titled Nigger, but he received so much negative attention behind the title that he chose to go untitled. Surprisingly  he did not change any of the music. So why would he represent such a controversial word??

The concept behind the album was to express and exploit all forms of ignorance. From the mental thinking to the physical action. He basically was saying throughout the album, that anyone who fails to educate themselves no matter their race or ethnicity on the truth concerning history,ancestry, politics and media news is considered a Nigger. Here are two particular songs that stuck out on the album where he uses some clever analogies

The first song is titled Project Roach featuring the Last Poets. The intro is strong enough as the Narrator attacks the notion that we need to have a funeral for the word Nigger. He states we need to resurrect brothers and sisters to change their mindset because Niggers like roaches don't die. You may find it strange, that Nas is speaking as, he himself is a roach in this song. He gives their habits, their wants and their needs.  Showing you the similarities between roaches and Niggers. Listen up below

This track right here may provide you with some humor but deep nonetheless. Again the entire album deals with ignorance, habits and all behaviors that come with. Titled Fried Chicken featuring Busta Ryhmes this track gets greasy,literally(lol). Here Nas and Busta both speaks on the addiction blacks have to Fried Chicken and Pork. Instantly Nas jumps in the driver seat, and speaks with passion to his favorite food as if it were a woman he desired. He leaves no rock unturned, as he tells all the angles and dangers that come with eating this type of food. Busta seems to be in heaven as he describes the experience of eating Ham. Listen closely below because the metaphors come fast.

In conclusion, we would like to apologize to anyone who took offense for the heavy usage of the "N" word. We felt it was necessary to use being that it was some  positive messages behind the music. In no way shape or form are we saying that Nas is a 100% correct is his findings, nor do we mean any disrespect to any of our African American ancestors that experienced the hard times that he speaks on. This topic is opinion based and is open for debate and discussion. Im Just Saying

Long Live The Swag: B Da Boss & DiIoia Beats

Soo what consists of a good mix these days when it comes to a complete rap duo? Maybe you say, Definitely a young hungry MC looking to prove himself on any stage, backed by a creative producer who has lives through his music. I think that answer best describes Long Live The Swag. A fresh new rap group that has emerged on the scene, ready to appeal to the masses. The two members have different backgrounds, but clearly the same passion.

Brandon Daniels or "B Da Boss" is a 23 year old rapper from Detroit who now lives in Philly. Having a good taste in music at an early age, his collection proved that he respected all genres in music. He was heavily influenced by artists such as Ice Cube, 2pac, Outkast, Chaka Khan, Marvin Gaye to Jimmie Hendrix.
Midwest flow with a little mix of that east coast swag is how B would label his style. His story relates to the inner city individual who has battled through ups and downs. Having some brushes with the law, B Da Boss now looks to stay positive on the outside.

The other half of Long Live The Swag is responsible for the production. All done by 18 year old producer Robert DiIoia(DiIoia Beats). He first started when he was 13, mixing and sampling trying desperately to hone his skills. It took some time before his peers took his serious, this very reaction only motivated Robert to work even harder. Now older and seasoned, his creations have a unique sound that can fit right into rap music's rotation today.

The relationship these two artists have built goes much deeper than the rap. They met in the late 90s and both vowed to make a heavy contribution to the game. The strong vibing chemistry makes music easy to create when both are focused at work. Keep your eyes and ears out for this duo, as they are filling all airwaves promoting their version of Swag...

Soo it our pleasure to take the time to pay respect to one of the greatest Rhythm and Blues singers of all time. Whitney Houston passed on last night(February 11, 2012) in a Beverly Hills Hotel room. The cause of death is still unknown, but the talk of her drug addictions has been filling all the airwaves. She was 48 years old  and was rumored to be dealing with depression.  She was beloved by millions of fans and supporters as they now want to reminded of her empowering legacy.

Born in 1963 in Newark, New Jersey her early years consisted of her singing in churches, giving the congregation a glimpse of her talent. The world got the memo in 1985 when she released her first solo album titled Whitney Houston. The album is heralded as a classic claiming the number 1 spot on the Billboard charts, producing the Grammy winning single "Saving All My Love".  Possessing a plethora of talents, Whitney had no problem transitioning into Hollywood. Her first acting role came in 1992 in the famous film BodyGuard where she co-starred with actor Kevin Costner. The film's original soundtrack won the 1994 Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Its lead single "I Will Always Love You", became the best-selling single by a female artist in music history. She has sold over 170 million albums in her lifetime and has won 6 Grammys.

She will be always remembered for her angel like voice. Her accomplishments helped paved the way for all women looking to break down barriers in entertainment. Her music not only expressed passion and sensitivity, But most important Love. She always sung to the air of a man, painting vivid pictures of the scenery that involves romance. Her most notable love experience was with entertainer Bobby Brown with whom she was married to for over 13 years. The couple had a daughter together named Bobbi Kristina.

Still till this day some believe that relationship with Bobby, proved to be detrimental to her life and her career. She began to fade from the limelight, and the music did not receive much attention. At times she was visibly distraught, and bothered. Which can be viewed as ironic being that one of her hit songs titled The Greatest Love Of All speaks on a person learning to love themselves before they can love anyone else. We can only pray and hope hope she is at peace now. We Wish You Were Still Here...

Soo if we were to examine the dynamics of artistic music, I believe we would find that some imaginations have no boundaries. Some creations have no guidelines, allowing the listener to accept the evolution of expressive music. The band that dares to enter that realm is none other than Platinum Mustache. An Electric-Soulful group who's sound can be best described as a fusion of Raw Soul, a Dash of Funk with a Pinch of Rock. The presence of Hip-Hop and Pop takes the subtle back tone.

The Band members are as follows: Powda Valdez(Front Man Ny) Aaron Bliss (Lead Vocalist Nj), Asher Murray (Drummer philly) Nick Seditous(Background Vocals, Lead Guitar philly) Carter Fox(Bass philly)

The union began from the idea of an experiment that was created by members Powda and Aaron Bliss. 
Both were solo artist that actually had their own separate bands. Powda represented the Hip Hop/Rock band "Violent Sex" while Aaron Bliss represented  the R&B, Soul Pop band called "South City." Powda's suggestion  to merge the two bands into Platinum Mustache has proven to be a success.  With the home base being in Philadelphia, they have been working nonstop accepting all booking offers as fast as they have been coming in.  Going strong for seven year now, the group still can be labeled as innovative as they set trends for others to follow.

So I'm sure you are still puzzled by the name they chose...wondering what is a Platinum Mustache and just what does it mean? The name came from the idea that these artists are the main ingredient in sound that travels and lingers below the nose and above the lips...Also in a heated, sticky situation if one chooses to kiss a specific area..then you too can obtain a Platinum Mustache(lol!). Speaking of Situations, That just so happens to be the title of their new hot single.

Situations, has been well received from the public. Many supporters and followers call the song a smash hit, and it deserves national attention. The message pertains to the situations men face when dealing with women. For sometimes you love them and sometimes you hate them. The group is currently working to complete there full Album titled "Platinum Mustache The Philadelphia Experiment" scheduled to be released Summer 2012.

Brand New Funk!: Supreem Da Rezarekta

Soo I know you wondering what is that smell...and why is it so strong? This strong odor happens to be the rebirth of the Brand New Funk. Brace yourself as you take your first whiff while you read this article. The focus is set on Supreem Da Rezarekta a highly energetic dynamic entertainer, who stands as the front man  for the Philadelphia based Funk Rock Hip Hop Band, Da Rezarekt. The band is on a short hiatus due to a medical issue, leaving Supreem with the daring task to embark on his solo mission.

Motivated and eager to accept the challenge, Supreem sought out to find some assistance with his project. Already having a keen sense of Funk, he was able to to enlist legendary Philly drummer Chuck Treece and Grammy Award winning producer David Ivory. This timely collaboration just smells like classic original funk.

Although Preem is still a member of Da Rezarekta and has been with a few successful bands and groups over the years, he is no stranger to standing alone. He and longtime friend and producer, Docta Shock, have brought you a solo Lp in the past titled Breathe. He is currently working on his solo master piece Lp titled Funk That, which is scheduled to be released this year. The album will be produced by David Ivory and Chuck Treece, with features from the talented Olivia Falcione, and the skilled Dj Xzotic D.

Should you ever find yourself in the audience while Supreem is displaying his talents on stage, fundafied can best describe your current state. The amount of energy he produces is insurmountable, as he makes it his priority to keep the crowd involved as well as entertained. Is Valentine's Day That Serious???

Romance is expected when two individuals that love each other are in a relationship. So why is it a national day set aside to express your love for your significant other. Valentine's Day can be viewed by some as necessary, but by others as a forced holiday. There is a group of folks that would tell you that Valentine's Day is needed.  The anticipation of something special being done by your man or your lady is a emotion difficult to over look. The mood is set with candle lights in a dim setting. A trail of roses leading you to your destination of love. The kissing - hugging - holding of hands and the mushy talk commences. The drinking of wine and devouring of chocolate can only lead to the bedroom when the time is right. Who wouldn't want a night like this lol??? Valentine's Day is the one day out of the year, where it is universally accepted to profess your love to someone.

Others would argue that Valentine's Day is not necessary, because one day can't amount to the love shown 364 days out of the year. The feeling is, I get or express this kind of love and affection throughout the year, so what makes Valentine's Day any different or special. Should I go out and spend money because everyone else is wrapped up in a day created to help "boost the economy." Another argument is men feel like Valentine's Day is another day to drop more cash on a female. Also feeling like the day is more geared toward women to enjoy than men. Guys aren't really looking forward to roses, teddy bears and chocolate from a heart shaped box. lol

Valentine's Day shouldn't be held to the same standard as: Christmas, Birthdays, Mothers or Fathers day. The aforementioned days hold more weight than Valentines's Day when it comes to expressing your love and appreciation for a loved one. On February 14th no one should be upset if they didn't get more than the usual from your significant other, as this day should be left optional... Im just saying!!! Passionate Soul: LaShae Musiq

Soo the old saying goes, believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see...But what if what you are hearing is the Truth? Yes, I tell no lies when I say that this jazzy Rythmn and Blues artist has the kind of talent to make all listeners believers. With the stage name LaShae Musiq, this singer/song writer is willing to prove she is more than just a pretty face with a sweet voice.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri LaShae Boone first started off singing when she was 3 years old. Already decisive about her future she began to practice and develop her talent, consuming her life with music. Her first live appearances came when she featured on Star Search then the hit talent search show American Idol(2005), where she performed an energized rendition of Alicia Key's "Fallen." The performance was heart felt earning  her a slot in Hollywood.

Still unsatisfied with her position in the music game, LaShae began to accept all work as it came, believing the notion that all successful professionals must pay their dues with hard work first. As a contributing member to her community she was honored to perform at several events for the American Cancer Society, along with singing the National Anthem for The Relay for Life. She has performed opening acts for the likes of Rapper Yo Gotti, RnB diva Angela Winbush and comedian Don Dc Curry. Although she received her degree from Ohio State, the passion to become a professional singer and entrepreneur could no longer be denied.

Now under the precise management of Ace Entertainment, LaShae is on the right path to accomplish both goals. She is currently working on her first studio album, with the talented producer and songwriter Gifted whose songwriting credits extends to Jagged Edge, Ne-Yo, Bel Biv Devoe, Lil Khalil, (American Idol Season 9 Finalist) Andrew Garcia, Italian recording artist Knaugi. LaShae has plans for her new clothing line, "Sweat Pretty" to launch in 2012. Both movements or rather are backed by promotion and marketing company High Society Group Incorporated. The company is headed by NFL star Santonio Holmes and Cergile Sincere.

I recently had the chance to witness LaShae perform live at a club/lounge called Pucks owned by the famous music producer David Ivory. Her sound was distinctive and compelling.  Her voice blended in with the melody as she was able to share her personal experiences with the audience.  Full of emotion LaShae was able to change the mood in the environment, proving that music is her choice of expression.

Sunday Discussion: Black On Black Crime

Living in Philadelphia isn't easy nowadays as the publics safety has become a daily issues. People are being killed at a alarming rate, leaving families of victims searching for answers. Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter has proposed a incentive system for individuals who report a stolen firearm or homicide. These are the measures that have been taken because of the high rate of shootings and killings in the city. The inner city and urban neighborhoods have adopted the "no snitching" attitude making some of the crimes difficult to solve.  We discussed the alarming rate of homicides being committed during our "Killadelphia: No More Brotherly Love..."  post.

Many officials believe the killings are isolated to the the minority communities. The numbers state, that the most killings are being committed by African-American males. The numbers also show that the victim of the killings, are mostly African-American males. So what are the factors of the murder rate in Philly's urban communities??? Some of the factors include: poor economy limiting the availability of jobs, declining scholastic performance and bad parenting, as some reasons for such viscous crimes.

Fox Philadelphia Mike Jerrick recently held a discussion panel named "Black on Black." The discussion debated the issues of relations within Philadelphia's African-American community. After viewing the discussion i was left feeling there really isn't a clear cut reason for the crimes being committed in the urban communities. Beyonce Offered $500 Million???

Simon Cowell has the news wire buzzing with changes made to his "X-Factor," television show on FOX. Cowell recently announced the firing of former judges, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Simon made the changes, as his show was slipping against "American Idol" in the ratings competition. With his show in dyer need of help, Cowell opened his wallet and reached out to r&b queen Beyonce. Rumor has it, Cowell called Beyonce on her Video Phone and offered the superstar a $500 million contract, to be a "everyday" judge on "X-Factor." $100 million a year, for a five year are the exact terms of the contract. Beyonce appeared as a mentor and performed a duet with the winner of the 2008 season of X-Factor. If Beyonce accepts the contract, it would make her the highest paid female entertainer in the world. Already being a multi millionaire, this deal would make Knowles and husband Jay-Z's combined income well over $1 billion.

Skeptics are saying, there is no way Beyonce accepts the offer because she is "bigger" than any "network" television show. The feeling is Beyonce would be stepping down a notch if she was viewed more frequently on TV. Is Beyonce that conceited, where she would leave $500 million on the table??? There are few scenarios where someone would feel the need to pass on $500 million dollars, but everyone is not married to Jay-Z.

Super Bowl Sunday

Soo finally the time has come down to one game to recap the season. Yes this day presents mixed emotions, on one hand you are rejoiced to see the season conclude in such a competitive manner. Your grateful for the chance to celebrate with everyone that has been apart of the culture. The other feeling is an empty one, being that from here on out your Sundays will be dreadful because now you are obligated to do all things your partner wishes(lol).  You had a football day--pass all season for it was understood that this day was untouchable relieving you from all responsibilities. The amount of food that will be present today will be unbelievable, and its justified because, this is it baby! The alcohol intake will be borderline suicidal, especially if one of these teams happens to be your favorite.

So just who is your favorite team playing today? Both teams have fought hard to get here leading up to a heavily anticipated rematch. The New England Patriots have operated like a machine on offense all year, proving yet and still that they have a sound system in tact, and Tom Brady can use anyone as a target.
The New York Giants have clawed their way in again. They truly have defined the word of resilient as they refused to lose even when the odds are stacked against them. Eli Manning has proved he can perform on the big stage.

We just wanted to conclude the season, for we are sad as well to lose this connection with you on Sundays(lol). It has been a great season and the entertaiment was great.  The environment will be full of positive and negative energy...Yes Im Talking Football Sunday, Welcome!
