24/7: Common Vs Drake

Soo, Are You Not Entertained!? Yup this is why we are here. Hip-Hop heavy weights Drake and Common have built up enough animosity to step in the ring. Now all we need is Michael Buffer to announce the 2 challengers. Lets recap shall we...Common recently dropped his single 'Sweet' off of his 9th solo album title The Dreamer/The Believer where he states his feelings on the rappers today, and how they seem to promote a lot of singing and soft feelings. He felt strong to address the issue, strong enough to indicate that these men are given the game a feminine feel. For sure it didn't take long for the true hip-hop heads to connect the dots.  Drake's name seemed to be spelled clearly. When initially asked if Drake was his intended target, Common stated "If the shoe fits."  Indirect some may say. Hmmnnn.. then Common later confirmed he was indeed speaking on rap artist Drizzy.

Drake seemed pretty confident about connecting the dots himself, sending his response on Rick Ross' Stay Schemin. Here Drake basically says he does not respect the indirect approach that Common has taken. He also adds that his stunt may just be a ploy to sell records off of his new album. Maybe Serena Williams plays a part here(both rappers rumored to have dated the star athlete)....Just like a good tennis match the back and forth action is strong here. Common just released his response today. Adding his verse on the Stay Schemin track. Again he looks to expose Drake, telling the public that Drake's attempt to be hard is just foolish and unbelievable. Ending with a catchy controversial line "You ain't wetting nobody..You Canada Dry"

To some this is a pure hip-hop battle, taking you back to the competitive nature of the sport. While others feel these events are a staged revamped version of WWF wrestling, as Common just jumped off the top turnbuckle and landed a flying elbow to Drake's Torso(lol). As always we look forward to hearing your opinion on the issue. Please feel free to share.

  1. This is back to the real hip hip... Common will eat Drake up... anyday, anytime... The real Hip Hop generation is fed up with what rap is turning into... Hopefully others take note and take it back to real hip hop... You don't have to kill or sell drugs to be a good hip hop artist... Listen to J Cole... Good hip hop... Bring it back, the real hip hop that is....

  7. I like Drake as I feel his music is catered toward the ladies which actually proves Commons point about him making the game feminine. With that said Drake needs to continue crooning the ladies and sit his azz down somewhere! He doesn't want it with Common on no level. Drakes lyrics are catchy, analogies are clever but his skills pale in comparison to Commons. His content is "cute" so he needs to stop this fallacy of "catching bodies"! BOY STOP! Lol
