Soo The King gets released from the Forrest City low-security prison today in Arkansas after serving time for a probation violation.  He was arrested in September 2010 in Los Angeles on drug charges, after authorities found him in possession of four Ecstasy pills. He is set to enter a halfway house to finish out his sentence. So what now for Clifford Harris?..Well reports say the rap artist is preparing to feature in a reality show on VH1 which gives viewers an up close look on how his handling his return home from day to day. Also he has a deal with Harper Collins to publish a novel titled "Power & Beauty"scheduled to be released in October. Sounds like T.I. was using his time wisely inside, I'm sure the reality show will recieve some good ratings as his supporters will tune in to catch some anticipated drama. So just how do u feel about T.I.P. coming home again! Is it possible that the rapper is using his negative publicity to gain public favor and make a profit simultaneously? Or is this another step toward his Road To Redemption.You tell me...

Former NBA Player Wanted For Murder

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton was arrested in California by the FBI on murder charges stemming from Atlanta GA. Crittenton left Atlanta on a one way flight to California in a attempt to evade law enforcement. At the time of Crittenton's arrest he was said to be with a male companion who was not taken into custody. The victim Julian Jones (mother of 4) was shot dead while walking with two men. Authorities believe that one of the two men the victim was walking with that night was the intended target. The shooting took place in retaliation of a robbery in April, where Crittenton was the victim. You may remember Crittenton from a incident between himself and Gilbert Arenas, when the two men supposedly pulled fire arms out on each other because of a unpaid gambling debt in a NBA locker room.

The long anticipated wait is over for all Madden football fans. Madden the most recognizable football video game ever was on store shelves at midnight Tuesday. Most Madden fanatics already have played the video game because they waited outside the store last night to be one of the first to it. Lockem Up!! What he do now??..Naw, this time its for a good cause and that's just what the Philadelphia Eagles did with Michael Vick signing him to a long term contract, one that will pay him $100 million over six years.  The controversial quarterback has literally run his way back into the money. Vick will get about $40 million in guaranteed money. The contract reportedly averages more than $16 million during the first three years.  This has to be great news for mean green Eagle fans as they wanted some confirmed assurance that Vick is a permanent resident. So what now..Will Mike feel secure as the teams leader, and march us to the Superbowl? Or will he become complacent with a new hefty purse. You tell me. There is one question that needs an immediate response...When will they lockup Desean Jackson? hmmmnnn

Usain Bolt Disqualified...

Talk about jumping the gun!(Smh) It was painful to watch, as Usain Bolt was disqualified from the men's 100m final at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu. Just bad timing for the world famous Jamaican athlete who was a victim of the one-strike-and-you’re-out false start rule. Bolt could hide his emotions as he immediately took off his jersey off and placed over his face in pure embarrassment. It was reported the runner tried to leave the stadium until he was approached by an official, obligated to stay he couldn't watch the final that he had vigorously trained for. The race was won by his Jamaican training partner, Yohan Blake, in 9.93sec. Although Bolt is considered one of the worlds greatest athletes he has been here before. He also false-started in the semi-finals of the last World Championships in Berlin two years ago, but that was when the first infraction was punishable only by a warning. He went on to win the gold in the final, setting an astonishing world record in 9.58sec. Bolt's fans can only hope he can shake this error off and look to take advantage of his next opportunity...Check out the video below to view his false start.

So there u have it, proof that both Beyonce and Jay-Z have been putting in working each other!(lol)  She looked proud to show her fans and supporters last night at the VMAs that she and her husband of 3 years are expecting a child. This seems to be big news in the music industry as everyone looked to show their support on all social media networks. Meanwhile Jay-Z couldn't play cool any longer, he clapped and laughed in pleasure, and Jigga Man looked pleased as his wife performed on stage. So I guess the public wont get much music from Beyonce for awhile as she stated "I always said I wanted to retire and have a baby at 30."  Then again B is a hard worker! Jay just may have to sit her down...We would like to say congratulations to both artist.

A 24/7 Faceoff...

Yup the anticipated bout between Mayweather and Ortiz is approaching(refer to $$$ Mayweather vs Ortiz Sept.17th in the August archives for additional info). Tonite(August 27th 2011) at 9pm HBO airs its 24/7 special where u get a full glimpse of both boxers in training camp for the fight.  Not to be biased here but, as always Pretty boy looks focused! Judging from his statements on HBO's FIRST LOOK training camp intro Floyd doesn't seem like he's taking Ortiz lightly calling him a "knockout artist" although he ended the statement with "He better look forward to getting knocked out." Yeah!(lol) As always Floyd doesn't disappoint his supporters, coming off cocky yet confident. I cant wait till September 17th should be entertaining. In the FACE OFF interview Victor seems rather calm but confident as well, his reputation speaks for itself. Hip-Hop's New Class...

Soo artists continue to enroll in Hip Hop's new school and class is in session...One rapper in particular has been working hard to make the grade. His name is Kendrick Lamar. A conscious rapper from Compton,California. He claims he has done his home work on the game for sometime now, he states he was heavy influenced by 2PAC, Nas, Jay-Z and Kayne West. He released an EP in 2009 titled The Kendrick Lamar EP, an acclaimed mixtape in 2010 titled O(verly) D(edicated) and released his third solo project Section 80 on July 2, 2011. Rumors have been surfacing of him signing to Aftermath Entertainment, after he did some work on Dr. Dre's long anticipated Detox album.  Presently he is spending a lot of time with Rocnation artist Jcole(refer to the blog archives Rags To Riches for his info) they are planning to release a mixtape together. Jcole actually produced the first single for Section 80 titled "HiiiPower." Check out the video below, let us know if you feel he can make a contribution to Hip-Hop.

What If Michael Vick Was White???

It seems as though many were offended by ESPN's recent image of Michael Vick as a "white man." The image, recently removed from their website, was to represent the question posed... "What if Michael Vick was white???" As part of the story ESPN polled 44 anonymous, current NFL players. 58.1% players polled  agreed that Michael Vick's penalty for dog fighting was "unfair", and if he were "white" 57.1% believed his treatment would have been different. Well...what if he was "white"... would he have served two years in federal prison for dog fighting and lost several million dollars in endorsements???

Cam Newton Told No Tattoos???

In a meeting with Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson Cam Newton (2011 1st overall selection) was told that the team preferred him not to have any tattoos or wear a afro. Its seems as though folks down south still believe in making racist comments and taking away a individuals natural rights. Now the owner of a NFL team should know better than to make those kinds of comments and advisement. Would Jerry Richardson have cared if his Quarterback and face of his franchise was from his own ethnicity???

So this week we continue in the female R and B sector..Aaliyah has been chosen today because of her death anniversary. She died in a fatal plane crash on August 25th 2001. Her death is still felt in the music and entertainment industry. She achieved tremendous success, becoming a multi platinum artist who touched the hearts of all her followers. The Game has been trying to get back on the scene since "Curtis" dropped him. Maybe he should try the show "Blind Date" again... lol

After life changing events Michael Vick was given another shot at his dream. His dream is to be the best quarterback to win a Superbowl. That is also the dream of Eagles Nation (fans), who have been waiting long enough for a QB that could win the big one. Donovan McNabb deserves a lot of credit during his time here in Philadelphia but for whatever reason he couldn't get his team over the hump.  The Eagles went "H.A.M." this off season with big name free agent signings that will most definently help their squad. Jeezy is back after a "vacation" from the rap scene. His fans have been clamoring for his return to the game, with hopes of a classic album. Jeezy is confident that his fans will enjoy his upcoming project "TM 103" referring to each track as a "anthem" during a recent interview. Jizzle may have picked the right time to get back,with his motivational "anthems" and display of street politics. In his Source interview Jeezy expresses sentiments to the "street youths" and how music may play a part in this generations behavior.

Do u believe that one job is no better than the next...? Well NBA star Delonte West does. Since the NBA currently is in a lockout Mr West feels he needs to stay employed. Apparently he has spoke of his plans on twitter from his CharleeRedz13 account with the words "Its official..pride 2 the side.. just filled out a application at Home Depot.. Lockout aint a game.."   He also stated that a judge has denied his access to play over seas(probably still serving probation for his weapons charge back in Sept. 09) Talk about about stepping down..maybe even falling off(lol) when you think of what hes made from being a NBA star. He entered the league in 2004 and he has earned a cool $14million through contract signings. So does he really need the money?? With a global recession approaching seems like he wants to keep a jingle in his pocket.  Maybe the guy has millions tied up in the Ponzi scheme(lol)..Maybe he was raised to work everyday no matter what ya profession you are in, which is respectable. While this act may seem strange, it does show that some millionaires have not forgotten that nothing in life is guaranteed. 

Sony PS3 To Offer NFL Sunday Ticket

Sony has made a power move by allowing the PlayStation 3 gaming console to broadcast live NFL games during the upcoming season. This is great news for football fans that live out of town and cannot watch there home team through their current television provider. With all good things there is always a catch. New customers not already using DirecTV will have to pay ($339.95) for the ability of streaming NFL games for the season. Existing DirecTV customers will need to pay $50 to view games through the system. It seems as if Sony is looking to take over the gaming industry with this powerful connection with the NFL. With the recent price drop of the PS3 console to ($249.99), Sony will surely capitalize this holiday season.

This American singer, songwriter and producer shall never be forgotten for her voice was strong and commanding. Her perspective on love was unconditional putting her in an elite class of rhythm and blues singers who sung to the heir of a man.

Born as Mary Christine Brockert(March 5, 1956 – December 26, 2010), Teena Marie was her stage name also known as Lady T which was given to her by her lover / mentor and label mate Rick James. Rick James help produce her first album titled  Wild and Peaceful, which was very interesting because the album had no picture of her on it. So radio hosts along with the public assumed she was an African American. She just had to be with a voice as soulful as hers. Contrary to every ones surprise this Portuguese singer was able to fit into black soul music with no problem. Teena and Rick made many soulful callabos and on every track you could hear the passion between the two. Fire and Desire was a well known track that kept many people guessing on how close the  two had become.

If you were a fan of her solo work you probably remember songs like "Square Biz" and "Ooo La La La" which were both big hits in her career.
My favorite song of hers which inspired the this post was Deja Vu where she takes the listener on a journey through her many times on earth through reincarnation.. She stated that this was her last time visiting earth, she believed she had washed away her sins in her past lives..At least that's what I got from it.. Flash Mobs Becoming Issue In Philly

It seems like "Flash Mobs" are rearing their heads back into the Philadelphia Streets. Patrons of Philly businesses downtown are fearful after several people (residents and visitors) have been recently attacked by flash mobs. The flash mobs have been described by victims, as a group of "black kids," ages ranging from 9-18, that move in packs looking to harm innocent individuals. Several arrest have been made and because of recent attacks in Center and University City, Mayor Nutter has enforced a strict curfew. The curfew calls for kids 18 and under to be no where near the previously mentioned areas after 9pm on Friday and Saturday. The curfew will be enforced to create a sense of safety for visitors from here and other cities. Temple Professor and Daily News columnist Dr. Marc Lamont-Hill  feels like the curfew is a violation of kids rights. Is enforcing this curfew "criminalizing our children" as stated by Dr. Hill, or is it more important to feel safe while enjoying your time in the city???

                         

Google Just Grabbed Motorola Mobility for $12.5B

Sooo Google just wont stop...They cant stop(lol) Does Google have their hands in too many pots?? With more than 75 acquisitions since 2006, including the $3.1 billion buyout of DoubleClick to jolt its online advertising presence, and the $1.65 billion buyout of YouTube. This recent acquisition proves Google's is aiming for total dominance in every industry.  This $12.5 billion purchase is calculated based on a $40-per-share cash offer for Motorola Mobility stock. With 35 billion in cash on hand some feel they have been eagerly awaiting to the chance to combat wit Apple's iPhone. Well this deal is a direct attempt being that Google's Android smartphone software has gained huge momentum and the company is looking to take advantage of the recent success.  Still nothing is guaranteed, for Apple looks to make their move this fall with the release of its iPhone 5. A laid back driver coming from Ohio...His name is Stalley and he has been creating a buzz throughout the hip hop industry. Who Needs A Father...?

The title can be taken many ways... It could be looked as a thought provoking question that could be asked in the black community to many children who are missing their fathers.  It could be looked as a statement coming from the women of the family who took over when dad left. Either way the familiar story is, mom(grandmom or aunt) is working 1-2 jobs to support the household while dad is absent. There are many stories, excuses and reasons why dad is absent and truthfully some are justified. Whatever the reason is the children seem to pay the heavy price. The females seek that father figure for the emotional support, and the males look for the teachings and preparation for a life of uncertainty.  Some feel that if more fathers were in the home in the black community, its possible that the senseless killings would decrease and more black males would look to better themselves...Hmmnn Sounds good to me. Until that happens we can only hope that this generation has learned from their fathers mistakes. Shout out to all the fathers doing their job raising their kids and somebody else's. A special thanks to all the women strong enough to handle all the pressure that comes along with being a single parent in this world today...Check out the old school video on absent fathers.

I'm a man baby!..Yea that macho tone brings us here to this topic of men showing love and affection. It maybe safe to say that most women feel that the average man lacks the tenderness that they desire. Ralph Tresvant gave his version years ago with his hit single titled "Sensitivity" (some men felt he went too far lol). In this present day, at any given wine sponsored event, u can find a group of women attacking this topic. "He never shares how he is feeling"...Well ladies, I took the time to travel to all the men hangout spots that i am personally familiar with. I conducted a survey and the results revealed, that a good percentage of  men are conscious of this very issue..Of course no one actually came out and said this directly (u kidding me)..The motives are hidden and it seems that most were taught to keep it that way, keeping their feelings tucked far away. Can a woman teach a man how to love? Hmmnnnn...One gentleman whose name will be left anonymous said, he wanted to show his woman more love and affection but he just didn't know how to stay consistent with the effort.  Stated he was embarrassed to admit that to her because he feels that, for her to teach him how to love, he is less of a man, a part of him feels weak. Maybe there are some insecurities on the surface..Fear?..A mans pride and ego carries much weight on his image. To be fair, nothing will happen overnight and the actions must follow, if there is a want to change. Whatever the problem is for us men it seems like Musiq SoulChilds'song "Teach Me How To Love" found a way to express our thoughts and ask for help at the same time...This song below sums up how some men in the babershops, casinos, sportsbar and even traffic court(lol) really feel. Beanie Sigel In Trouble With Uncle Sam

The "Broad Street Bully" is in trouble with the law again . This time the accused crime is Tax Evasion. Beanie pleaded guilty to the charges yesterday in federal court. Sigel is said to have made over $1.5 mil through 2003 to 2005, from music and clothing line royalties. The IRS claimed Beanie owes over 300k, in back taxes, during that time frame. With a long list of priors, Sigel is looking at another stint in the "bing."

Dont Bank On This One...

My corporate people love it when I talk like this...(lol) Soo it appears things have gotten worse for Bank of America. Confirmed reports has it that American International Group(AIG) is suing the bank for more than $10 billion saying they cheated them by selling residential  mortgage-backed securities that were overvalued.  The lawsuit couldn't come at a worse time for the bank, their stock just dipped 20% falling a $1.66 to $6.51 a share, giving a similar feeling to shareholders as to what they felt in March 2009.  AIG claims Bank of America misled them in deal along with mortgage giants Countrywide and Merrill Lynch to purchase $28 billion in securities backed by home mortgages from 2005 to 2007 when the housing boom had reached his height..AIG stated that more than 40% of the securities were false. Fraudulent, Fabricated lol..Lets remember Bank of America just agreed to pay 8.5 billion in June to a group a investors for selling them poor-quality mortgage securities.. Just giving some information for my investors..this negative news just may hinder financial progress for the bank.

Where's the Beef?!?!...This famous rhetorical question may just have some life again..As of Wednesday August 3rd USDA forced Cargill to recall 36 million(yea that's a  lot) pounds of ground turkey meat because it may be contaminated with salmonella bacteria. The 3rd largest meat recall in history. Cargill packaged and shipped the meat from its plant in Springdale, Arkansas. The USDA issued a public-health alert on July 29 linking 77 illnesses to ground turkey, without mentioning Cargill. The states with the highest number sickened were Michigan and Ohio, 10 illnesses each, while nine illnesses were reported in Texas. Illinois had seven, California six and Pennsylvania five. There is also one reported death in California. My goodness, just when u felt good about a healthier option  . So just what is safe to eat and drink these days?...Crazy thing is, the summer is not over yet, great chance many people have turkey burgers on their BBQ menu. Now they have to consider a Veggie Burger...A whole lotta nothing(lol).

NBA 2K12 Greatest Mode (Trailer)

I finally made the switch over to the 2K basketball brand last year. I must say that the game play is just as good or better than NBA Live. I am looking forward to NBA 2K12 to see what changes they have made to improve the game.

4 On Trial For Septa Bus Shooting

This incident occurred on June 18th at 7th & Cecil B. Moore Ave in Philadelphia. Two men shot into a Septa bus with passengers. The incident steamed from a argument between a man on the bus who viewed a female rider hitting her child. A heated exchange took place between the two, after the man said "that is child abuse." Witnesses stated that the female then made a phone call and at the next stop men were standing at the corner. After the female exited the bus with her son, she ordered the men to "shoot that nigga." This video shows the exchange and different views of the shooting on the bus. No one was injured during this event.

With the Nfl lockout over and the season scheduled to begin on time, fanatics can now breathe easy. Fans across the country were able to take a sigh of relief once the NFLPA(players union) agreed to terms with the owners on a new CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement). The thought of no football this year did not sit well with the masses. The free agent period has been historic so far, with players coming and going to new teams. Also with trades and rookie signings occurring at a rapid pace, football has reclaimed its spot back into sports limelight.
